Guitar lessons

Guitar lessons are due to take place on Friday 18 December instead of Tuesday 15 December. Mr Watt has cancelled Tuesday lessons this week. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

Speyside Fiddlers and Singers

Today, Speyside Fiddlers and singers Erin Taylor, Tayler Dear and Megan Thomson performed a programme of songs, fiddle music and Christmas tunes to the residents at Speyside Home in the morning and then to members of the Luncheon Club at lunchtime as entertainment to follow their Christmas lunch. We all had a fantastic time and hope to entertain again soon. Thanks also to Mrs Lewtas who accompanied us to the Speyside Home.

Christmas Concert

Well done to all who performed in the concert. You were all fantastic and you provided a variety of different styles of music.

S2 Music

S2 are Rockin Around The Christmas Tree. The pupils choose which instrument to play or sing and can take the music home if they wish.

Christmas Concert

Our concert is tomorrow! Please meet in the music department at 6.45pm and remember to wear school uniform (shirt and ties). Have fun!

Pupils performing to Luncheon Club

Speyside Fiddlers and some of our singers will be performing to the Luncheon Club at 1pm on Tuesday, 15th December 2009 after they have had their Christmas Lunch.

Woodwind lessons

Mr Fryer will be in school on Thursday 10th and 17th December (instead of his usual Wednesdays) to accomodate the Christmas concerts at Speyside High School and Forres Academy.

Guitar lessons

Guitar lessons take place on Tuesdays. Pupils in S1 who have asked for lessons should meet with Mr Watt before registration on Tuesday, 8 December 2009.

Fiddlers performing at Speyside Home on 15 December

Speyside Fiddlers will be performing again on Tuesday, 15th December to an audience at the Speyside Home. Mrs Lewtas will also be accompanying us. We are looking forward to it!

S1 Music

S1 pupils have all chosen an instrument to play and we are learning to perform a Christmas Medley which includes Jingle Bell Rock and Rudolph. They are also taking part in a Christmas sing-a-long. Pupils can take the music home.

Fiddlers at Aberlour Playgroup and Nursery

James Cordiner led a group of fiddlers which included Aimee Naylor, Craig Lambie, Kirstie Spark, Craig Ferguson, Megan Thomson and Caitlin Grant. They played a few tunes to the children to celebrate St Andrew's Day. The nursery children performed a song to the Speyside High pupils. They sung beautifully! Well done to you all!

Christmas Concert - Thursday 10 December 2009

Our concert is to be held next Thursday. Rehearsals are in full swing. Speyside Singers rehearse on Mondays, String Quartet and Woodwind Group on Wednesdays and Orchestra on Thursdays, all at 1.15pm.

Music Factory with Alasdair Nicolson and the SCO

Two pupils from S6, James Cordiner and Erin Taylor, travelled to Findhorn on Tuesday to take part in a composing day with Alasdair Nicolson and musicians from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. It was a very creative day and James and Erin have now ideas to write a piece to take back to Alasdair in January.
